Tattootime → Music & Sea Tattoos (1985) Pinky Yun

In 1982, legendary tattooer Don Ed Hardy, AKA Ed Hardy, together with Ernie Carafa, began publishing Tattootime, a magazine about the world of tattoos. The magazine would end up having only five issues in total: New Tribalism (1982), Tattoo Magic (1983), Music & Sea Tattoos (1985), Life & Death Tattoos (1987), and Art from the Heart (1991). However, with thought-provoking articles containing information about the history of tattooing, photographs of tattoos and flash, artist highlights, deep dives into styles and motifs, and more, Tattootime has understandably had a lasting impact on the tattoo community.

This article is an interview between Ed Hardy and tattooer Bing Kuan “Pinky” Yun and details Yun’s relationship with tattooing and the many places he’s opened up shop. This article was published in the Winter 1985 issue, Music & Sea Tattoos.
